Weddings have always been special to me. It’s a time of love and happiness where everyone comes together to celebrate a couple’s new beginning. And what makes the occasion even more special is the wedding venue a couple chooses for their big day. A venue can set the atmosphere and overall mood for a wedding and Columbus offers a variety of breathtaking ones. One of my favorites includes the Ohio Statehouse.

The Ohio Statehouse is one of those locations that never fails to surprise me. With its old-world charm and elegance, the venue provides wedding packages to couples who want to add the magic of history and celebrate their wedding in the most romantic way possible. So, if you’re planning a grand wedding, here is a wedding guide to help you plan it at the Ohio Statehouse.

A Wedding Guide To The Ohio Statehouse

1. Stunning Old-World Grandeur

The Ohio Statehouse offers a classic and timeless wedding experience for couples planning an exquisite wedding. With its impressive Greek Revival architecture and grand columns, it can make your dream wedding come to life. From the main entrance to the rotunda, every single aspect of this historic building will add to the aesthetics of your event. And as a wedding photographer, I find it to be an especially inspiring setting, especially Capitol Square (one of the more popular spots at the venue).

Your guests will be seated on chivari chairs placed on vintage black and white tile floors surrounded by light pink walls with white accents as they watch you exchange vows in this magnificently decorated setting. Plus, you can move into the atrium for a lavish reception where circular tables decorated with floral arrangements will be set.

2. A Variety Of Packages

When it comes to wedding packages, the Ohio Statehouse provides three options to fit every budget:

  • The Ceremony-Only Package: Includes a one-hour rehearsal the day before the wedding in the Rotunda.

  • The Reception-Only Package: Where your reception will take place in the Atrium.

  • Wedding And Reception Package: For those who want a ceremony and reception at the Ohio Statehouse, they can opt for the combined package.

There is something for everyone when it comes to planning a wedding at the Ohio Statehouse.

3. Seasoned Wedding Coordinators

One of the reasons why I recommend this venue is because it has some of the best wedding coordinators in town. These highly experienced professionals ensure that all your wedding plans and dreams come true. From vendor communication and coordination to overseeing the entire set-up and dismantling of wedding decorations, these skilled individuals go above and beyond to make sure your wedding goes off without a hitch.

4. Top-Notch Catering

Couples can rely on top-notch catering services at the venue to make their special day even more memorable. With multiple Ohio Statehouse-approved caterers to choose from, finding a menu suitable for your budget is easy. Whether you're looking for customized cocktails, delicious hors d'oeuvres, or a plated dinner service - the Ohio Statehouse catering has you covered.

5. Additional Amenities

Not only does the venue provide a large parking lot for everyone’s convenience but also offers security services from the Ohio Highway Patrol, making sure that no uninvited guests disrupt the flow of your wedding. Additionally, the Ohio Statehouse also offers designated rooms for the bride and groom to get ready, wedding planning services, and basic AV equipment in any package that you choose.
