Washington DC Intimate Wedding: Kathleen & Evan

Kathleen & Evan’s Washington DC Intimate Wedding

A cozy setup, long, intimate toasts, and a circle of your closest people - intimate weddings have a different aura. They set a different mood for your wedding day, but the sense of celebration, love, and togetherness remains the same. And depending on how they are planned, they can be truly magical - just as Kathleen and Evan’s intimate wedding in Washington DC. When the COVID pandemic spread across the world, like many industries, it also pulled the breaks on the wedding industry. As a result, many couples modified their wedding plans, and Kathleen and Evan did the same.

The couple decided to get married in September 2020 but wondered if the pandemic would force them to modify their wedding celebrations even months after the outbreak. Keeping everyone’s health and safety in mind, the couple then went ahead and tied the knot in an intimate setting and honored their original wedding date. With just their immediate family members in attendance, Kathleen and Evan got married on a gorgeous rooftop that had an equally gorgeous view of the city!

Kathleen & Evan’s Intimate Rooftop Wedding in Washington DC

Kathleen and Evan’s wedding day was a beautiful sunny day in September in Washington DC. They decided to get married at the Line Hotel Washington DC - a 5-star hotel situated at the heart of Adams Morgan neighborhood. The venue had a very sophisticated setting and a vintage-chic vibe that added a luxurious touch to its ambiance. Apt for what the couple had in mind!

I arrived at the venue a bit early to set up things as planned. As the day began, I met Kathleen in her suite, where she was to get ready. Her big day was just beginning, and I could see the bridal glow on her face and the spark in her eyes. She couldn’t contain her happiness, and I adored capturing that. The getting-ready photos turned out to be all about smiling faces and gorgeous, intricate details of the dress. The light coming in through the window in the room provided a light and airy setting. So I asked Kathleen to pose in front of the window and voilà! So many beautiful bridal portraits!

The expression of anticipation, love, and joy - first look photos capture it all, making them one of my favorite moments of a wedding. It was genuinely heartwarming to photograph Evan and Kathleen during their first look! I will never stop being in love with the look on a bride and groom’s face when they see each other for the first time on their special day. They had a rooftop setting for their entire wedding celebration, which gave me the amazing skyline as a backdrop for many photographs.

Kathleen and Evan really put a lot of thought into planning the details of their day. Everything was beautifully well thought out. From champagne glasses engraved with Kathleen’s name and the gorgeous bridal bouquet to the classic chocolate wedding cake and dinner table arrangements, everything was impeccable.

Such is the magic of intimate weddings, they never cease to amaze how grand they can actually feel. One of the most memorable moments from the wedding was when the bride’s brother was comforting his mother by holding her hand as she got teary-eyed seeing her daughter getting married. The ceremony, the reception, the toasts - everything went just as planned. The venue had gorgeous settings - both indoors and outdoors - making the couple’s portraits look like a scene from a Disney fairy tale.
