Luxury Living at Uncommon Columbus - Event Photography

Recently, I had the chance to photograph the grand opening of Uncommon Columbus, a brand new apartment community that just opened between Ohio State University and the Short North. And let me tell you—it wasn’t your typical “ribbon-cutting” kind of event. From the moment I walked in, I could feel the energy in the space. It was stylish, lively, and full of personality. A perfect reflection of the city around it.

As someone who specializes in architectural photography in Columbus, Ohio, I’m always drawn to projects that bring together great design and great people. That combination makes storytelling through images so much more dynamic—and this shoot delivered on both fronts.

A Community in the Perfect Spot

One of the things that makes Uncommon Columbus stand out is its location. It’s right in the sweet spot: close enough for OSU students to walk to class, but also just a few blocks from all the restaurants, bars, shops, and culture in the Short North. That combination gives the place a real “best of both worlds” feel.

As people arrived at the event, you could tell the location was a big draw. I heard more than one person say, “I didn’t realize how close this was to everything.” And they’re right—it’s the kind of place where you don’t need a car to enjoy your day. That’s a huge plus for anyone trying to live a little more simply (or avoid Columbus traffic).

From a real estate photography perspective, that walkability is something you want to highlight. The setting itself becomes a selling point—and showing that lifestyle through photography helps people connect with the space before they even step inside.

Rock & Roll Meets Refined

Now let’s talk about the vibe. Uncommon Columbus leans into a bold, rock-and-roll theme—but not in a gimmicky way. Think edgy artwork, moody lighting, and sleek common areas that feel modern but warm. It’s stylish, but not trying too hard.

The decor made it a lot of fun to shoot. From the guest kitchen and fitness center to the hot tub and pool area, each shared space had its own character. I’m always looking for ways to show how people use the space—not just how it looks—and Uncommon really made that easy. The design encouraged people to gather, interact, and explore.

This is one of the key things I focus on in interior photography in Columbus—capturing real energy in the space. People laughing around the pool, friends chatting in lounge areas, spontaneous group photos in front of wall art—those are the kinds of images that make a property feel alive and appealing.

Details That Make It Feel Like Home

Of course, I also spent time photographing the apartments themselves. The units at Uncommon Columbus come with stainless steel appliances, quartz countertops, and thoughtfully styled bathrooms. The designer furniture adds a finished, upscale feel without losing that sense of comfort and livability.

Golden hour is my favorite time for interior and architectural photography, and it worked beautifully in these spaces. Soft natural light highlighted the clean lines and high-end finishes, making everything feel warm and polished. These are the images that help potential residents picture themselves living here—and that’s the goal.

Not Just a Building, But a Beginning

What made this shoot so rewarding wasn’t just the beautiful architecture or thoughtful interior design—it was the people. There was a real sense of excitement at the grand opening. Future residents mingled, local vendors set up stations with food and drinks, and everywhere I turned, someone was discovering a new favorite corner of the building.

For me, blending event photography in Columbus with real estate and architectural work is all about capturing more than just spaces—it's about capturing moments. A toast between future roommates, someone peeking into the fitness center for the first time, or a quiet conversation on the rooftop deck—those little moments are what make a photo feel honest and engaging.

If you're in Columbus and looking for a fresh, creative take on architectural or real estate photography, I’d love to help bring your space to life. Whether it’s a new development, a boutique commercial space, or an event that deserves to be remembered, I’m here to help tell your story visually.
