Rusty River Barn Wedding | Alexandra And Kyle

True to its name, the Rusty River Barn in Utica is the perfect location for couples who want their wedding venue (and photos) to have a dash of vintage charm and rustic elegance. Surrounded by rolling hills and lush fields on all sides, Alexandra and Kyle certainly made a really good choice by picking the Rusty River Barn as their wedding venue. Tucked away from the city, the historical barn, which was turned into a premier wedding venue after its restoration, has everything you need to have a memorable wedding day - for yourself and your guests. And side note: Even though it is a barn, you and your guests can still enjoy all the modern amenities.

Alexandra And Kyle’s Wedding

I started the day with taking photos of the bride and groom as they got ready. I love the excitement in the room as things pick up pace on the wedding day, and it was no different at Alexandra and Kyle’s wedding too. The wedding party was clearly in the mood to celebrate, and it was a lot of fun to photograph my couple with them. I really loved how once they got dressed, Kyle and his groomsmen happily posed for me by the barn. They all look so stylish in the group photos. And this was also when I realized that the groom was a natural in front of the camera. Posing came so effortlessly to Kyle, and I really enjoyed taking his solo portraits.

One of the best bits about this wedding was that I had a lot of time to take solo and couples portraits of the bride and groom. I always try to make time out for bridal portraits before the first look, and Alexandra happily obliged. With that beautiful bridal glow on her face, she was so happy to get her photos taken and moved around as I guided her to different spots. Another great thing about the place is the sheer amount of natural lighting you get outdoors. I just couldn’t get enough of it!

Alexandra and Kyle had a lovely first look moment, and after that it was time for couples portraits. These two share an amazing bond and chemistry, and my aim was to just photograph them as they are so that their chemistry could naturally reflect in their photos too. Safe to say, we took full advantage of all that the Rusty River Barn had to offer.

The elegant decor and florals perfectly matched the barn’s rustic vibe. The outdoor ceremony location was so gorgeous and thankfully, the weather was on our side. After the ceremony was over, I headed for group photos, and those turned out to be really fun too. I loved how these two dedicated so much time to get photos done. Their first dance as newlyweds was so romantic; they just couldn’t stop smiling. Also, I thought their 5-tiered cake definitely deserved a photo shoot of its own. It was one of the greatest pieces of art I’ve ever seen!

For me, one of the most memorable moments was the (extra-large) group shot I got to take at the end. It wasn’t with just the wedding party or the immediate family or friends - the photo included EVERYONE. That one photo kind of just sums up the energy that everyone brought to Alexandra and Kyle’s wedding. With a wonderful couple, an absolutely stunning location, and lots of positivity and love all around - it was an honor to be able to shoot this wedding.
